2010 WWA Wakeboard World Series Dates Announced! The global event series will visit 6 countries on 4 continents in 2010
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 4th, 2010 The WWA is very proud to announce the dates and locations for the 2010 WWA Wakeboard World Series. This global series of events that are towed behind the boat will be held at 6 locations, in 6 different countries, and on 4 continents.
The World Series is the first and only event series of its kind, partnering with events all across the globe and bringing together the top riders in the sport to compete for over$200,000 in prize money. Throughout the course of 2010, pro athletes will compete to earn points at each event in order to crown the champion of the overall WWA Wakeboard World Series.
Since 2004, the World Series has been the true international stage for the sport of wakeboarding. In 2010, the series will travel to the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, and the Philippines.
Wakestock Abu Dhabi will be the first ever event of it’s kind held in the United Arab Emirates. Held from March 4th – 6th in Abu Dhabi, riders will be battling it out for $50,000 in total prize money. This will be an incredible kickoff to the 2010 season and will boast the most prize money of any event on the WWA World Series.
The Ragga Wake World Series will host the 2nd stop of the 2010 World Series in beautiful Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Subsequent to the widely successful 2009 contest held just outside the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil’s thriving wakeboard scene will again be invaded by the world’s top pros on May 14th – 16th.
Relentless Wakestock in the United Kingdom is Europe’s largest wakeboard music festival. The event is scheduled for July 2nd – 4th in Abersoch, UK, and will set the stage for the top 10 riders from the WWA World Series. These riders are prequalified into Saturday’s competition, along with past Relentless Wakestock UK winners.
The 4th stop of the WWA Wakeboard World Series will be taking place at Wakestock in Collingwood, Canada. Wakestock has been Canada’s premiere action sports and musicfestival for 12 years running, and has been part of the World Series since day one. Always including the most innovative rails in the sport, Wakestock will again be comprised of some of the best wake and rail riding in 2010.
The WWA Wakeboard World Championships held in Orlando, FL from August 19th – 22th will be the 5th stop of the World Series. As the true World Championships in the sport, the WWA Worlds has been crowning the World Champion in each respective division since the early 90’s.
The final stop of the WWA Wakeboard World Series will be held at the most progressive wakeboard facility in the world, the CamSur Watersports Complex. This event will also be the final stop of the WWA Wake Park World Series pulled behind cable systems. It will encompass 4 different disciplines of the sport to crown an Ultimate Wake Champion. This is the only event in the world where riders compete in a boat contest, a cable contest, and a System 2.0 contest to earn points that will determine who is the most diversewakeboarder in the sport.
