2008.5 - Spanking New
by Sim Bradley 28 / 11 / 2008
2008 is almost drawing to an end, well actually it’s late November and there is still one contest to go which is pretty bizarre seeing as how it’s already snowed on a few occasions, but then this year was pretty bizarre altogether. We couldn’t see out the end of the year without one last issue to get you through the cold months, but this year our final issue is more like the first. Let me explain, as the first 09 issue is the Gear Guide we thought it would make more sense to launch the completely overhauled new-look Alliance Magazine on a typical issue packed with content so we brought the future forward to this week.
The 2008.5 Issue of Alliance is out this Friday (or today if you’re at the boat show) and it is all brand spanking new. We have a new logo, new artwork and theme’s throughout the mag, a new structure for the famous Framed section incorporating lifestyle photography, and most importantly of all we have a new 100% recycled paper-stock. Everyone in the office is excited to get their hands on a copy of the issue that marks the start of the future and doing our bit for the environment is pretty important given the amount of fuel wakeboarders go through trying to make a perfect wake.
In traditional fashion this issue features The List 08 where we talk about all the big things, good and bad, that made the year stand out, we have a 20 Questions interview with CK Koester covering the past, the future, his passion for photography and exactly what his name is. Parks Bonifay and Adam Errington flew up to New Foundland in Canada to jib some Ice Bergs which you have to see to believe, and Tor Young finally stuck around long enough for us to shoot some photos and get her Coming Up interview locked down. We also have bucket loads of photography including a 6-page tribute to our recently departed friend Ian Beattie, featuring his favourite photos along with others chosen by his family and friends.
With 100 pages of entertainment it should keep you distracted from the snow long enough to be opening presents under the tree, by which point you’ll be too busy playing with your hula-hoops and Furbies to worry about how cold it is. I hope you enjoy the new Alliance magazine and as always feel free to get in touch and tell us what you think.
