Pete 'n' Posh Pool Party

So when Pete Ward from Cirencester told me that he was going to organize a friendly competition along with Chris AKA Posh, I don’t think either of them could have imagined what a success it was going to be.

At first the plan was for it to be a really low key competition between the English crew but as word got round CWC there ended up being 18 riders from 6 different nations, including Korea, Australia, France, Austria, Philippines and the majority of riders heralding from the UK.

When Gov L Ray found out about the event that was the end of it being on the low down, DJs were organized with a PA system, a pool side bar, BBQ and a cash prize. He put a twist to the contest and any riders who wanted to enter had to be dressed as a super hero!!!

We only found out about the super hero part two days before so every one was rushing about trying to sort their costumes out. In the end there was a great showing of super heroes, Pete came as Peter Pan and looked great in his green tights, George Newell managed to fit into a 6 year olds spider man costume, the Power Rangers were there, The Incredibles and Superman even made an appearance.

The riding was incredible, Kim Yong il and Harry from Korea proved that they are the masters of pressing on any rail. You have to see these guys ride to understand how good they actually are. George Newell proved that he has a legit ollie, he proved this by ollieing from the bottom pool to the top, Stef Caller was the only girl to enter and she showed that once again she can hold her own against the guys. She is one of the best girl rail riders around.

The final came down to Kim and Leo Lebadens from France, I would not have liked to be judging that one, it could have been either of theirs on the day, but in the end Kim took it, I think what pushed him ahead of Leo was that he was ollieing up one of the rails the wrong way and making it look easy.
