Newquay Part 4

Well my friends it’s the end of the day on Thursday and as I write this we have moved out of our crazily poor, nasty, cheap hotel and moved into a posh 4 star beauty, complete with swimming pool, bar, breakfast options, nice comfy beds, carpet, toilet roll, kettle and proof that you get what you pay for in life! We are here for the weekend then its back to the crappy hotel while we take the pool gap down. We are about to take an adventure to the SUSO party in town and meet up with Matty C and a few others so it could turn messy. The office staff have arrived (hence the posh hotel), the pool gap is 98% complete and the water level has eliminated the little question mark that was floating around my head.

The day started well with gorgeous sun shine, blue skies and hot weather, what a difference it makes to morale and the work rate! The branding, filling of the top pool and rail building is done. All that remains is a tiny bit of work on one of the transitions of the rails. We wanted a legit ollie but perhaps what we have built is a legit ollie for an Olympic pole vaulter!

The full squad of riders are arriving tomorrow and then the fun begins, two nights of music, wakeboarding and maybe a sly little surf. We are setting our alarms for six in the morning so we can go surfing but that could be wish full thinking now we have these nice comfy beds. My next article will include the first days riding, so bring it on! Marcus Dixon is here and loving his wake riding again so that’s going to be sick to check out. Lee Debuse has an injury which could plague is chances of winning overall but hopefully he will be fit and well.

The main problem I have tomorrow is that Martin just informed me he is staying in the hotel all day (while writing this they found out about the indoor pool as well as the out door one) and Moyle agreed! Oh well its pretty much done anyway!
