In this day and age it’s all about technology, getting things faster and sharing them further. We’re almost at the stage whereby if you’re not tweeting about your facebook page from your iPhone, then frankly you may as well quit life altogether. So to feed your hunger for all things geek-chic, we’ve compiled a list of the top iPhone applications that allow you to take wakeboarding and wakeskating with you wherever you go. (Yes, it’s winter and there’s not much actual wakeboarding to write about, so this will have to do!)
MPORA - £FREE You should all know about MPORA by now, the worlds greatest online source of action sports videos, photos and news – think YouTube for cool kids. Well now you can watch videos on the site from anywhere with a phone signal. That means with their Wakeboard section you can check out all the back catalogue of Alliance UK videos through our channel as well as a ton of other vids from Oakley, WhiteNoSugar, System 2.0, Nautiques and Nike 6.0 to name but a few. One of the cool features about this app is how you can filter which sports you see on your homepage – ie; you don’t need to watch any skiing videos! Download the MPORA app here

Fuel TV - £FREE Fuel is a TV network in the USA that specializes in action sports with everything from skate, snow & BMX to Parkour and wakeskating. They create a ton of original programs like ‘Built To Shred’, ‘Pull’ and ‘Firsthand’ which I love watching whenever I’m in the states, and now you can watch podcasts of all these shows for the first time in the UK. As well as the videos, there is a constantly changing photo gallery blog and an industry news page with announcements and product reviews. This is a great little app. Download the FuelTV app here

SkullCandy - £FREE The trendy headphone people at Skull Candy have released their own application with loads of cool features. They have music to listen to, surf and snow reports, downloadable wallpapers, photos, skatepark locator, videos of all their team athletes, blogs and even a store where you can buy headphones, clothes and accessories. They have really made the most of the technology to promote their athletes and musicians who work with the brand, and with loads of sports and genres to choose from you could spend all day browsing around this tidy little package. Highly recommended for passing the time when you have too much of it spare. Download the SkullCandy app here

Malibu Boats - £FREE Manufacturers of one of the best boats on the market, the Wakesetter, Malibu now have their own iPhone app to show off their boats. In this program you can find your nearest dealer, get info and stats on all the new models, news updates on the teams and videos of all their athletes and boats too. Download the Malibu app here

The Berrics - £0.59 Ok, so this has nothing to do with wake sports, but it’s one of the best websites there is, and if you are into skateboarding then it’s likely you already agree with me. We did a review of their website in 2009.4 issue, and now with an iPhone app you can watch the best, gnarliest and funniest skateboarding videos uploaded daily to TheBerrics.com without the use of a laptop. Trust me on this one, it’s well worth the 59p. Download The Berrics app here

Wake Grub - £FREE This is like a little news portal into the world of wake. The basic but clever application is linked to loads of brand, athletes, crews and scene blogs through RSS feeds, so within one handy application you can check out the Liquid Force team blog page, and the latest happenings at Sheffield Cable park without having to worry about http’s and all that nonsense.
