If Carlsberg Made Rails...
by Tim Woodhead 19 / 08 / 2008
If Carlsberg made rails they would
be floating on a man made lake in Rother Valley County Park, just near
Sheffield, about 2 miles off the M1, 158 miles from London and 4445 miles from
Florida. It would be lime green in colour, be shaped like a fun box and have
numerous ways of hitting it, it would make everybody smile and leave people
dreaming of it. That’s right it’s been in my dreams! To continue with my little
advert theme, the rail would be just like a tin of Ronseal, doing exactly what
it says on the side of the tin. It’s a fun box - its fun and looks like a
box.
If I could steal it I would, but
unfortunately I am not a thief and it’s too big. If I could transfer it I would
but it still looks a bit gnarly. When it first got floated the idea of
transferring it was non existence and then Matty C turned up and nailed it.
Following behind was Si Chappell who took inspiration and immediately followed
suit. Si has now fully tamed the beast and pretty much owns it, at last count
the transfer club was about ten strong, so I had better pull my finger
out!
I have taken two trips to
Sheffield Cable this summer in order to session the fun box, the
first was just for a gathering of friends and the second for the Ten Feet High
Series this past weekend. Watching the fun box get sessioned is so sweet because
it is actually perfect for all standards of riding. A new comer to the world of
riding solid objects can easily ride the middle section, the skaters are loving
the wall ride and the skilled rail riders need the rest of the cable lap just to
work out what they will do on there next hit! There are that many
options.
I could sing the praises of this
fun box all day but really you should just go and check it out, it’s
lovely
