Alliance Wake Articles Alliance Wake Articles http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles Thu, 29 Jul 2010 18:32:33 +0000 Loch Stock – Stop 2 http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/loch-stock-stop-2 Fri, 23 Jul 2010 00:00:00 +0000 On 17th July 2010 history was made at Loch Earn as Loch Stock officially became the first Scottish wakeboard festival! After a busy but chilled day of riding on Saturday under the expert supervision of David O'Caoimh the Loch Stock tent came to life as Blitz hit the stage to warm up the crowd. Headliners The Raw Kings kept things going as darkness fell and the tent filled, and by the end of their set the party was in full swing. Battlemode DJ’s hit the stage to round off the evening and by the end of the night it was standing room only, with the structural integrity of the tent being put to the test! http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/loch-stock-stop-2 Leviathan Travels http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/leviathan-travels Fri, 16 Jul 2010 00:00:00 +0000 The Relentless Leviathan is barely a year old but is already a very well travelled sea monster. Constructed originally for Relentless Wakestock 2009, the Greek Sea Monster has since travelled to Princess Club in London for a month spell in their Wake Park and as part of the King of Cable event. After that she went back to North Wales and took a dip in Abersoch Bay for Glass Butter Beach. Over winter she spent 8 weeks in a container travelling to the Middle East and back for Wakestock Abu Dhabi. Then the Wakestock build crew bolted her back together and she again took her position in front of the band stand at Pwllheli Marina for Relentless Wakestock 2010, where she was graced by the touch of Randal Harris, Phil Soven, Aaron Rathy and many other international names. http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/leviathan-travels Rococo Rail Jam http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/rococo-rail-jam-2010 Mon, 12 Jul 2010 00:00:00 +0000 Rail riding is most definitely the new ‘cool’ in wakeboarding. Well, I say new but it’s been on the exponential rise for a good number of years now and here in the UK it has most definitely been inspired and helped that bit more through Alliance’s Pool Gap at Relentless Wakestock. This year saw the most riders ever in the event and that is without a complete inundation from the wakeboarding world wanting to get involved in the awesome festival site set up. Strict entry requirements were therefore put in place, reserving spots in the event for those riding in the boat contest and those who’d ridden the Wakestock pools before. http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/rococo-rail-jam-2010 'Find A Spot' Winner http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/find-a-spot-winner Thu, 08 Jul 2010 00:00:00 +0000 Over winter we ran a contest online to find the best riding spot in the UK, and asked you guys to send in your favourite places to get your slaysh on. We there were some predictable entries like cable parks, Windermere, Loch Lomond and the south coast, and then a few places that we had never heard of before, so our roving investigator Tim Woodhead happily went around to scope them out. After deliberating which was our favourite we agreed on the winner, a spot entered by Tim Foster and Ollie Akid. Unfortunately for you guys, they want to keep this spot a secret so we can't tell you the name or location, but I can tell you it's one of the best places I've ever been to ride. Last week we went to the lake to get some shots for the upcoming feature in Alliance, and took along Sam Carne, Charlotte Bryant, Matty C, Scotty Broome, Nicola Butler and Jorge Gill. We were also joined by Mike Hardicker of MasterCraft UK who bought along their sweet new wrapped X2 for us to play with. http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/find-a-spot-winner Wakestock Day-3 http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/relentless-wakestock-day-3 Mon, 05 Jul 2010 00:00:00 +0000 As the dust settles on another year of madness, Wakestock 2010 is finished. Sunday morning started off very different to the previous two days with 36mph winds and showers that swept up tents from all over the campsite. On Pwlheli Marina the conditions were less than favourable, in fact it was outright horrendous, but with $7,000 up for 1st place there was still all to play for. The format for the second stop of the WWA World Series involved four 4-man heats with the top placing rider from each heat making it through to the 4-man final showdown. http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/relentless-wakestock-day-3 Relentless Wakestock Day-2 http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/relentless-wakestock-day-2 Sun, 04 Jul 2010 00:00:00 +0000 Saturday morning in North Wales was another scorcher, with the sun blessing us with another appearance, and a significant drop in the wind. It all kicked off with the Pro Women's final where some riders had upset and others flourished, and if I had to make an early call on the result I would pick between a certain UK export and an Aussie to take the Wakestock 2010 title. http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/relentless-wakestock-day-2 Relentless Wakestock Day-1 http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/relentless-wakestock-day-1 Sat, 03 Jul 2010 00:00:00 +0000 Ooooooohhhh Damn! Relentless Wakestock 2010 has begun and boy did it kick off with a bang! Friday was absolutely gorgeous in Abersoch and even though it was a little windy, everything went off great. Down at Pwlheli Marina the qualifying rounds for Men and Women took place in pretty choppy conditions, but sunny all the same. People did well with the course, especially Amber Wing who made the huge Rooftop rail look easy, along with Jack Hammersly who did a beautiful back board to front board along the 100ft beast. We'll know the results soon but at the time of publishing this article I had no idea. http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/relentless-wakestock-day-1 New Issue - 2010.3 http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/new-issue-2010-3 Fri, 02 Jul 2010 00:00:00 +0000 If you’re one of the very few people who aren’t in Abersoch & Pwlheli for this year’s Relentless Wakestock then I have some good news for you, the new issue of Alliance is out today! In the biggest issue of the year we have an interview with the best rail rider to come out of the UK and Alliance Cover-star, Mr Marc Rossiter. Rossi has made the big move over to Florida and is 100% focused on his riding. Things are going well, he’s moved in with some genuine wake-royalty and is destroying every single rail in Clear Lake and Bithlo filming for a part in the new Company Wakeboards team film, ‘Good Company’. There are some epic photos from the likes of Bryan Soderlind and Jason Lee, so this is a feature you absolutely cannot miss. http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/new-issue-2010-3 Loch Stock – Stop 1 http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/loch-stock-1 Fri, 25 Jun 2010 00:00:00 +0000 The Scottish tour got underway last weekend at the stunning waterside Loch View Motel in Dumfrieshire. Two days of constant sunshine provided wetsuitless riding, with pro coaching on Saturday from Liquid Force shredder and all round nice guy Kurt Graham. Sunday saw sore heads all round following yet another epic Loch Stock party with some riders struggling to find their game face! One rider who did however was Loch Lomond Wakeboard’s Raymond Colhooluhan, who made an unexpected appearance in his favourite orange ski mask throwing a huge in-out fashion airs. Fortunately the organisers and boat crew were also on their game and ensured the awesome Mastercraft X2 (with graphics that wouldn’t look out of place on an AC/DC album) left the dock on time all day long. http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/loch-stock-1 Funbox Funday http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/funbox-funday Thu, 24 Jun 2010 00:00:00 +0000 So an impromptu trip to visit family this weekend saw me with an opportunity to track down an old friend who escaped over the imaginary border between the North and South a couple of years ago. Not only has ‘Solid’ Jim Sedgwick gone south, but he seems to have fully embraced boinging around on the cable so I thought I’d better go and investigate. http://www.alliancewake.co.uk/articles/funbox-funday
