In the words of Ronix co-founder Paul O’Brien, ‘this year we sold out’. Ronix actually had a booth at Surf Expo for the first time this year, and it was one of my favourites. The whole natural wood feel and framed photos around the booth looked awesome. But you don’t care about that so lets get onto the boards.

Next year there is a new board coming from Hyperlite that should get quite a few people in England excited. You guessed it, Nick Davies has a board. Unfortunately the person bringing it to the show didn’t make it after her flight was cancelled due to hurricane Ike, so we never got to see the new graphic that Nicky D is so proud of.

There is no denying that Red Bull no how to put on a show, and as far as ‘big deals’ go this week has been huge. In the wake of arguably the biggest thing to ever happen trick-wise with Danny Harf’s 1260, last night the biggest rail event ever took place on Lake Eola in the heart of Downtown Orlando.

Liquid Force have been very busy over the past year building a their ’09 line of wakeboards, skates, boots, vests, ropes, luggage, wakesurfers, flexboards, clothing and apparel, and I caught up today with Art Director Scott Leveritt to get the all the info, and boy is there a lot of info.

Right now there is a lot of ‘buzz’ around Orlando with the Surf Expo trade show kicking off tomorrow where everyone in the action sports industry unveils their new products for the summer 2009 season. Everyone big and small is in town setting up their booths today in what is essentially a huge pressure cooker. With a building this big, air conditioning costs an absolute fortune to run, let alone what it does to the environment, so it won’t be turned on until the show starts, meaning we are here working are asses off in temperatures way over 35 degrees… I need a new t-shirt.
