A Proper British Day Out

A Proper British Day Out

Besides the stereotypes of Beefeaters and talking with an overly posh accent, you can’t get much more British than drinking tea, engineering and an optimistic day out by the seaside; well a lake is close enough. Last Monday myself, Solid Jim and Dan Jordan met up with Ed Williams and the guys from British boat manufacturer Fletcher, to test out their new line of wakeboard boats. The guys at Fletcher Boats have been designing, researching and redesigning the WakeSport series for over a year now, and it’s a pleasant change to see a company actively seeking help from riders to make their boats better. Whilst they know full well that they can not match the wake of a Super Air, they know exactly where there market is; bridging the gap between companies who stick a tower on a family fun-boat and call it the wakeboard edition, and the market leaders like Mastercraft, Nautique and Malibu. So we met up at Ten-80 in the heart of the midlands to give the boats a proper good going over. Well almost, Dan nearly missed out as he was late after modelling underwear for M&S or something like that, which we all had a good laugh about - I am not quite sure now he got around the boardshort tan line that all wakeboarders have!

The UK now has 5 pool gap events so its time we stopped telling you about how good they are for showcasing our sport to the masses and taking wakeboarding to new venues and unchartered places. The simple truth behind a pool gap is that they are a tonne of fun to session, regardless of the numbers of spectators or cool spots we get to visit.

Windfest has been running for 10 years now and incorporates plenty of sports from skateboarding to windsurfing and of coarse our favourite; wakeboarding. The Windfest weekend has become a solid fixture in the annual wakeboarders calendar and bearing in mind it takes place on the beach at Sandbanks, Poole it’s easy to see why. The South Coast has the climate, beaches, people and party atmosphere to lure us down.

Ticking all the Boxes

Ticking all the Boxes

Finding new places to go and visit is top fun especially when they tick all the right boxes. Everyone has different boxes that need ticking when they plan a holiday, some might want to go and join in the madness of Ibiza and get uncontrollably wrecked every night and sleep all day. Some may want to do absolutely nothing other than lie in the sun all day and go out for meals at night; others might want to visit various cultural places and see the wonders of the world and get engaged in Paris or float around Venice at 1mph! What ever floats your boat it’s a good thing that we all have different needs when we plan holidays.

Box End Park is becoming known as the place to ride for the strapless, thanks to the flat water and specifically designed obstacles it is an ideal place for us waterdancers. Well the good people at Box End took it one step further this weekend by holding a skater-only session on Sunday morning.

Hello and welcome to the final product update from the 2009 Surf Expo. First up sorry about how long it took but the show was a very busy time for us and we’ve been doing a lot of ‘business’ since. Also another apology for those of you waiting for the Liquid Force web video. I’m not really sure how but the DV tape I shot at the show has been magnetised or something and is distorted to hell, so there won’t be a video. (I’m not so bummed about not shooting the Wake Lab now, I would cry if that footage got lost!) Anyway back to the subject, and here is some pictures of the new stuff from CWB and Devotid Wakeskates.
